J Shed History
December 9, 2009
As a building with a lot of character, lots of our customers ask us about the history of the J shed. It was used for many different purposes, here’s some background information courtesy of Dennis Cann, Cafe Twocann.
“The grade 2 listed building was built in 1895 as the grain store for what was a very busy port. The building was subsequently used for many other purposes including a fish market and an office furniture showroom. It was also used to store spring bulbs for the municipal gardens and as a consequence the gardens of the Dockers were a sight to behold!”
Christmas has come early!

Owen Money – Just the Ticket
November 19, 2009
Welsh Comedian Owen Money unfortunately received a parking ticket outside J Shed Restaurant La Parilla today. The Panto star was celebrating Beaujolais day when the parking attendant pounced. Unfortunately for Owen the parking attendants around here don’t have much of a sense of humour!
Many of our customers stop outside for up to 10 or 15 minutes without any problem – perfect for collecting their print. And for longer meetings there are pay and display car parks at either end of the building. An hour is currently £1.20. The nearest street parking is across the Sail Bridge on East Burrows Road.
